Children and adults at risk can be abused in a family, institution, or community setting. Abuse can include:
- Physical abuse
- Emotional abuse
- Neglect – persistent failure to meet basic physical/physiological needs
- Sexual abuse
- Financial abuse
- Discriminatory abuse
- Institutional abuse
