North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund North Star are delighted to have received a grant of almost £10,000. This funding will be used to create an extra-special garden at Aspen Gardens. The garden will create an outdoor space for everyone to enjoy, including Residents within the wider community.

We are extremely excited and keen to get on with the project. We already have volunteers from Aspen Gardens and Residents of Hardwick who are ready to get involved in the project. You don’t have to be an expert in gardening to get involved. We will welcome all abilities.

The National Lottery Community Fund said ‘Receiving this award is a mark of quality of the work you are doing in your community.’

We want to say a special Thank You to Allison Alderton team manager of Older Person Services who applied for the funding and put all of the information together.

We will be sure to post updates when the work gets started and the finished result of this exciting project.

Earlier this year Aspen Gardens also won a Gold Award at the Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC) along with two of our other supported schemes St Cuthbert Court winning silver and Ruskin Court winning Bronze.

It is fair to say that our supported services have worked so hard this year and care very much for the tenants.

Allison said ‘on behalf of myself and the team, we are delighted to receive this funding. It will make such a difference to Resident’s lives, as well as the wider community. We want to encourage and promote community cohesion, and the garden project will give us this opportunity. We have lots of ideas for the garden and are really keen to involve everyone. Watch this Space!!!!………………..’
