North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more

As an active member of the “ Homes for Cathy “ group we were delighted to have hosted the North East regional workshop of Homes For Cathy. Which brought together partners from across the region, to identify how we can work together to  do more.

Prior to the workshop, North Star invited their staff members to watch the screening of Ken Loach’s pivotal 1966 televised play Cathy Come Home, which told the story of Cathy, her family and the horrendous impact that homelessness had on them.  The story sparked public outrage and led to the founding of the charity Crisis

Gary Philipson, from BBC Radio Tees came along to interview participants. The focus was on what partnership working can achieve in preventing and eradicating homelessness. He spoke to  Adam Clark, Executive Director of Customers, Claire Teasdale, Supported Housing Services Manager and David Bogle, Chief executive of High Town Housing. David is also the leading member of Homes for Cathy, group of housing organisations.
