North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more
Stockton North MP and Shadow Housing Minister, Alex Cunningham, attended North Star’s latest development of affordable bungalows to officially open the scheme.
North Star Housing Group is a Teesside based housing association committed to providing great places to live.
The £930,000 development brings seven new homes to Darlington Lane in Stockton and was supported by a Homes England grant of £300,000. The site was brought to North Star and developed by contractor P.F. Burridge, a family-owned company from the North East specialising in both maintenance and building contracting.
The new homes have been developed on a brownfield site and provide much-needed homes for older people in the area.
The local MP was delighted to meet with the new tenants and officially open the scheme. Alex Cunningham MP said: “This bungalow development is the best possible example of using a small patch of land to deliver something that is desperately needed in our area. It’s the sort of development we need replicating in hundreds of locations across the country.
I congratulate North Star on spotting the potential of the site and wish the residents every happiness in their new homes.”
Angela Lockwood, Chief Executive at North Star, said: “We are always keen to do what we can to increase the number of high quality, affordable homes.
Our latest scheme provides much needed, good quality and accessible homes. We are proud to be able to deliver homes that people need now and will continue to need in the future.”
Stephen McCoy, Commercial Director at P. F. Burridge, said: “Burridge were delighted to work on this project for North Star. There was a fantastic team effort throughout that has resulted in this delightful and much-needed bungalow scheme that has greatly improved the local area.”
