We are delighted to announce that Richard Hukin has been appointed to the Board of North Star Housing Group.

With his vast expertise and shared commitment to providing safe, affordable, quality housing, Richard will be instrumental in helping North Star to achieve our goals as set out in our Learning & Growing Plan: Vision to 2026 and Strategic Objectives – North Star Housing Group Ltd (northstarhg.co.uk) 

Richard brings with him broad experience within both the private and not-for-profit sectors, particularly in the fields of financial leadership and strategic planning, and is presently Executive Director – Business Support with Berwickshire Housing Association.

A qualified Chartered Accountant, Richard started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Newcastle, qualifying in 2005. His career has seen him undertake major financial roles in several high-profile organisations, which include Studsvik UK, where he was VP-Finance, and DB Metro Tyne & Wear, where he was Head of Finance. 

He spent four years as Assistant Director – Finance Operations with Isos Housing (Now Karbon Homes), the beginning of his working relationship with the housing sector. His responsibilities then included overseeing budget preparations, financial business planning, and managing financial reporting to the Board, FCA, and HCA. 

Subsequently, Richard undertook senior roles in Sage UK and the Mayborn Group, further developing his expertise in financial control and reporting. Most recently, he worked as an Operations Financial Controller with Accord Healthcare before returning to the housing sector. 

Richard brings particular focus to financial control, assurance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory reporting, together with procurement experience from his wide-ranging background across both commercial and social housing.
