North Star was named winner of the Bupa Wellbeing at Work Award at Business in the Community’s 2016 Annual Responsible Business Gala.
The event at the O2 Arena was the culmination of the 2016 Responsible Business Awards, run by the Prince of Wale’s charity Business in the Community to celebrate the innovative ways that businesses in the UK and abroad are making a sustained difference and transforming communities.
North Star prides itself in giving people so much more then a place to live and their award winning approach to wellbeing demonstrates this. North Star’s ‘Stronger Together Through Shared Leadership’ programme was set up to improve the wellbeing of North Star staff and the communities it serves. North Star was recognised for investing in wellbeing and how this can drive positive organisational change.
Angela Lockwood, Chief Executive at North Star, said: “It’s a phenomenal achievement for us to win this award for our approach to wellbeing. We didn’t want an ordinary organisation, we wanted a super healthy one; we’ve all worked hard and most importantly worked together to achieve this. I’m absolutely delighted and extremely proud of everything we have accomplished.
“We put people at the forefront of everything we do, and for this to be recognised in such a significant way, and knowing we’ve been up against some of the top businesses in the country, is a huge achievement for us.”
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: “The Responsible Business Awards provide the proof that from the largest global multinational to the smallest local firm, business is a powerful force for good in society. This year we have seen some profound examples of what business can achieve when it puts responsibility at the heart of its operations. I congratulate North Star for the practical action it has taken to build a fairer world and more sustainable future.”
