North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more

At North Star we are passionate and committed to supporting people who find themselves in vulnerable situations which result in homelessness. A campaign that is currently being highlighted by the National Housing Federation’s #HomesAtTheHeart campaign.

We deliver a number of supported housing services working with local authorities to ensure we assist with their homeless duty.  We deliver a number of services directly, working with people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

These services consist of:

  • Hestia Women’s services accommodating single women or women with children who are homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • Rainham Women’s services accommodating single women or women with children who are homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • Parkfield Hall Young persons service accommodating young people who are in the care system or leaving care
  • Redcar intensive Housing Management services accommodating single people and families who may be experiencing homelessness
  • Redcar Private Sector Leasing Accommodating families who may be experiencing homelessness
  • 5 Women’s refuges across the North East working in partnership with Wearside Women in Need and Harbour
  • Move on Stockton and Middlesbrough accommodating people in step down accommodation who have experienced homelessness in the past and have accessed intensive supported housing services
  • Room to change accommodating perpetrators of domestic abuse

Within our supported housing services we work with people to develop their independent living skills, we ensure our customers are clear about their rights and responsibilities as a tenant and we work together to ensure they develop the necessary skills and understanding to manage and maintain a tenancy both now and in the future.

North Star are also committed to the Make a stand pledge, to support victims of domestic abuse.  We have policies and procedures to enable us to support victims effectively and we have strong networks with specialist support agencies.
